In a little lidded hotplate on the kitchen table Paula Sinclair learned to fuse glass to copper. She was 12 years old. Largely self-taught and long past middle age, she has settled into designing statement necklaces as the enamelist at GlassGlow Studios in Twin Falls.
With transparent and opaque vitreous enamels in powders, lumps, chips, and threads fired at 1500̊ F. or more into a gooey orange-hot mass, she surrenders to the unexpectedness of the heat effects. Her palette ranges from subtle to exuberant, her style is abstract, and her designs often make light play as if through stained glass.. Many of her designs are mounted with elegantly mismatched hand-strung beads, every one wholly unique.
Paula Sinclair continues to practice law, living primarily in Twin Falls and often week-ending in downtown Boise. Her work can be seen at Full Moon Gallery in Twin Falls, TVAA exhibits, and now at ArtZone208.
